Bayonne’s small business grant program deadline extended

Those eligible can apply until Aug. 27

Apply now before it's too late!

Bayonne businesses now have until Aug. 27 to apply for the city’s small business grants program.

Thanks to a new round of federal funding, more small business grants are available to qualified local businesses, Mayor James Davis announced earlier this month.

To be eligible, a business must have no more than 25 fulltime
employees, and it must be current with its taxes. The program excludes nonprofits, real estate holding companies, and franchises.

Gaining lost ground

“Many small businesses have been through hard times during the Coronavirus pandemic,” Davis said. “This grant program provides an opportunity for qualified small businesses to recover some lost ground.”

The grants come under the American Rescue Plan, intended to help local economies recover from the economic distress that began in 2020, according to Davis.

Applicants must submit the following documents: W-9-request for taxpayer identification number and certification; W-30-employer report of wages paid; 2019 tax return; and 2020 tax return or 2020 extension.

Aapplications must be filed only at bayonne.arpgrants.com. The platform will be open through Aug. 27. No late submissions will be accepted.

Applicants can access their accounts after submission. Call 1-800-608-5176 or email BayonneGrants@nwfinancial.com for help. For help scanning or uploading documents, email BSBGrantHelp@BayNJ.org to set up an in-person appointment at City Hall.

Award amounts will be based on revenue loss and prior grant awards. Checks will be sent to successful applicants by October 2021.
