F.B.I. search for Jimmy Hoffa’s body in Jersey City

The F.B.I. has conducted an investigation into the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa, the president of the Teamsters Union, at a landfill under the Pulaski Skyway in Jersey City in late October, according to the New York Times. Hoffa had disappeared in 1975, with his whereabouts a national mystery.

North Bergen Winterfest

North Bergen’s annual Winterfest celebration will take place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 2. Festivities take place on Bergenline between 85th and 76th Streets. Shuttles are available from other locations in town.

Winterfest begins with a parade down Bergenline Avenue followed by entertainment for all ages, including rides, games, ice skating, rock climbing, a petting zoo, horse and buggy rides, food, music, giveaways, face painting, and other activities including photos with Santa at Atlantic Carpets, 77th and Bergenline Avenue. Other characters will be there including Mickey and Minnie, Elsa, The Grinch, The Black Panther, Alvin, and others.

Hoboken Farmers’ Market awards winners of Recipe Contest

The Hoboken Farmers’ Market awarded the winners of the 25 Season Recipe Contest as the market’s season concluded on Nov. 23. The winners are Thaler Pekar, Caroline Leavitt, and Jannie Wolf. The market will return on June 7, 2022.

Jersey City Arts Council receives $150k grant

The Jersey City Arts Council has received a $150,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to help recover from the pandemic. The center will use the funding to distribute grants in the community starting early next year.

Union City Christmas Tree Lighting

Mayor Brian Stack and the Union City Board of Commissioners, Hudson County, and Washington Park Association have announced the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Dec. 2 at 5:00 pm in Washington Park in Union City.

Jennifer Morill becomes press secretary for Senator Menendez

Jennifer Morill, a spokesperson for the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, has joined U.S. Senator Robert Menendez’s office as his new press secretary. Morill was previously a spokesperson for the City of Jersey City, CarePoint Health, and was a former reporter at the Jersey Journal.

West New York tax sale

The town of West New York has announced the sale of 2021 and prior year delinquent taxes and other municipal charges through an on-line auction on Dec. 16 at 9 a.m. For a listing of all parcels, delinquencies and costs, along with bidding instructions, visit westnewyork.newjerseytaxsale.com.

Food drive in North Bergen

The Robert Fulton School Student Council and Ambassadors of Kindness are sponsoring a food drive to help families in need. They are collecting non-perishable food items, as well as dog and cat food.

Drop off your donations by the front entrance of the school at 7407 Hudson Avenue in North Bergen. All donations will go to local food banks. Donations accepted through December.
