Hoboken unveils statue of Frank Sinatra
Hoboken officially unveiled the city’s first statue of Hoboken native Frank Sinatra on Dec. 12 at Sinatra Park in what would have been his 106th birthday. The six-feet tall bronze statue of the legendary singer was modeled by sculptor Carolyn D. Palmer.
Jersey City hosts annual “Shop with a Cop”
Jersey City hosted its annual “Shop with a Cop” at Newport Centre Mall on Dec. 16, an event where kids shop for presents with officers from the Jersey City Police Department as an opportunity to build relationships between the community and the JCPD.
Alternate side parking suspended in Secaucus
Alternate side of the street parking will be suspended in Secaucus until March 14. Metered parking is suspended for the month of December for holiday shopping.
Bi-weekly pop-up tax clinics in North Bergen
The Township of North Bergen, in collaboration with Hudson County, continues to host biweekly pop-up vaccination clinics at the Kennedy Branch Library. Free COVID-19 vaccines are available for anyone ages 5 and up on Thursday, Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Boosters are also available. The Kennedy Library is located at 2123 Kennedy Boulevard. No appointment is necessary; walk-ins are welcome. Sign up for an appointment in advance at hudsoncovidvax.org.
WNY holiday decorating contest
Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez, Commissioner Margarita Guzman, and the Board of Commissioners invite residents to participate in the town’s Holiday Decorating Contest. Prizes will be given for: Best Decorated Home, Best Decorated Window, Best Decorated Building Lobby, and Best Decorated Block. Coat drive in Union City
All Union City Public Schools will be holding a coat drive until Jan. 14, hosted by the Office of Community Relations. Donate coats, gloves, scarves, socks, hats, and sweaters of all sizes from toddlers to adults.
Holiday light decorating contest in Secaucus
Residents are invited to participate in a holiday light exterior illumination contest from Dec. 19 to 23. There will be three winners each category including Martha Stewart, Clark Griswold, and Best Block.
