Union City Announces Cooling Centers Due to the Impending Extreme Heat

Due to the impending extreme heat, Mayor Brian P. Stack has announced the opening of cooling centers in Union City for residents seeking shelter from the heat and hot weather anticipated for Tuesday, July 19, 2022 through Friday, July 29, 2022.

Cooling centers will be located at the following locations starting on July 19th through July 29th:

  • Bruce Walter Recreation Center – 507 West Street – 9 AM to 9 PM
  • Senior Citizens Building – 3700 Palisade Avenue – 9 AM to 9 PM

Residents should avoid prolonged exposure to the heat.  The City is urging the homeless to seek shelter at a cooling center and for residents to check on the elderly and pets.
