Kyle Anderson, an NBA basketball player on the Minnesota Timberwolves, recently hosted a basketball tournament and clinic in North Bergen.

The Celebrate Life Basketball Tournament and Clinic at James J. Braddock North Hudson County Park on Saturday, August 6. Hundreds of kids from many municipalities joined North Bergen to participate in the special event.

Anderson, a former North Bergen resident, hosted the basketball clinic in the morning. This was followed by a basketball tournament in the afternoon and evening.

Children ages seven years old through high school age participated in the event. Many were happy to be involved in the clinic and tournament involving Anderson.

Mayor Nicholas Sacco attended the event, along with Commissioners Julio Marenco and Allen Pascual, and County Commissioner Anthony Vainieri. The officials wanted to support and appreciate Anderson’s work.

The Celebrate Life Day Basketball Tournament and Clinic was established in 2016 to honor Anderson’s childhood friend Paul Kim. Kim took his own life in 2014 and the event aims to raise awareness of suicide prevention.
